25 Unique Pregnancy Journal Prompts | Westminster Maternity Photographer

Maternity

Imagine it’s 25 years from now, and you find an old journal that contains your deepest thoughts, fears, and dreams from your pregnancy. You sit down and shed a tear for that former version of you that couldn’t even comprehend the immense joy that was coming for her with this new baby!

I know you’d thank your past self for journaling throughout pregnancy, even through the business of doctor’s appointments and nursery preparations.

Journaling is a grounding practice that can offer solace, reflection, and a deep connection with your new baby!

If you’re not sure where to start with your pregnancy journal, here are some tips to get you started.

7 Tips to Make Journaling a Habit & a Priority

  1. Pick a Special Journal: Choose something that inspires you to write – be it because of its beautiful cover or because it feels nice to the touch. I love going to the beach and journaling because it is my happy calm place and I live in Westminster so its only a 10 minute drive for me or I love my bed with blankets and just being in a quite place.
  2. Set a Routine: Whether it’s first thing in the morning or right before bed, find a time that works for you and stick to it.
  1. Keep it Accessible: Have your journal somewhere you can see and easily reach it. Out of sight, out of mind!
  1. Mix it Up: Who says it has to be all text? Feel free to doodle, paste in photos, or whatever feels right.
  1. No Pressure: Forget grammar or trying to sound poetic. This is for you, by you. If you miss a day, no biggie – just pick up where you left off.
  1. Reflect and Respond: Use prompts (below) to spark thoughts or stories.
  1. Set Goals: Aim to fill a page a day or write for a certain amount of time, but be flexible.
